The Reflux Mom’s Guide to Feeding Clinics
(Updated January, 2010)
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may affect how a child approaches mealtime and learns new feeding skills. A feeding program may be needed to provide the extra assistance to learn new feeding skills or overcome sensory and behavioral challenges associated with reflux. A feeding clinic may offer a feeding evaluation by a speech language pathologist or an occupational therapist with specialized training in feeding. Some feeding clinics have additional specialists including: a pediatrician or pediatric gastroenterologist, dietician, psychologist or behavioral specialist.

there is a feeding clinic in Jackson,MS, called the Blake feeding Clinic, located at Jackson Medical mall! My son has finally gotten in after a long fight from his mama with the doctors caring for him. After 4 months with not one ounce of weight gain, they decided to listen to me that he has eating issues and gave me my referral!

I hope you find some information about feeding clinics and programs in NZ. In the US, most feeding programs are located in a Children’s Hospital. A speech language pathologist or occupational therapist with advanced training in feeding may have a private clinic (outpatient/office).

We went to an awesome feeding clinic in Denver. It’s a private practice clinic, run by Dr. Kay Toomey, who developed the Sequential Oral Sensory model for feeding. They have OTs and SLPs, as well as Dr. Toomey, who is a behavioral psychologist. It was wonderful multidisciplinary care. I wish we were still in Colorado. They do not have a website, but the clinic # is (303) 759-5316.
